How to Volunteer
If you’re interested in a volunteer position please complete the following steps:
1. Complete your volunteer profile here.
2. Sign up for orientation. The next orientation is, Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 5-6 pm at the Shelter.

Here are a few special upcoming volunteer opportunites:
April 22 *Dog Hander at the Barkin' Basement Earth Day Celebration 2-4 pm
Can you show off one of our adorable adoptable dogs at this event? *Dog handler training is required
May 1 Idaho Gives Donation Station 2 hr shift between 7 am - 7 pm
Sign up for a 2 hour shift to help the community give back! Signups start 04/12 through volgistics. You will be signing up to work a 2 hour shift in either Hailey or Ketchum. During your shift you will be assisting people to make donations to the organization of their choice using an Ipad. Read more about the event here.
May 25 *Dog Hander at the Shelter for a school field trip 12-2 pm
We will be working with the 4th graders teaching them dog training basics. Signups start 4/12 on Volgistics. *Dog handler training is required
July 4 Parade Planning Committee
We will have one meeting in June and will meet on July 3 to decorate the float. We will also walk in the parade on Friday, July 4th!
Barkin’ Basement Customer Service: Tuesdays and Thursdays
If you’re interested in helping at the Barkin’ Basement Thrift Store, we would be grateful to have you as a volunteer. There are 2 training shifts that will prepare you for future service with the Barkin’ from 9-12 and 12-3 on Tuesdays and Thursday
Group Volunteer Activities and Tours
If you have a group that would like a tour, field trip, or to complete a one-time project, please contact the Shelter at 208-788-4351. A minimum of one week advance notice or more is usually required to schedule a group. We try to accommodate groups of any size. Be advised that, because of safety issues with our pets and your group, there may be little to no interaction with animals for large scale group projects.
Mandatory Community Service
We require all court-appointed community service volunteers to contact the Shelter prior to beginning their service hours. Community Service Volunteers must set up their schedule prior to coming in for their first shift.

Community Service Protocols:
All community service workers must be pre-approved by the Animal Shelter
The Animal Shelter allows court-appointed volunteers who are 16 years of age or older.
