Although he wasn’t so sure about adoption and really wanted a hunting dog, he said we could foster him for a week or so and see how things went. Pete has turned out to be one of the best upland bird hunting dogs in the field (although initially very gun-shy), an obsessed fly-fisherdog, a hiking buddy, a dog-world peacemaker, and my angel on earth. To anyone who is thinking about adding a dog (or cat) to their life…I have to say make adoption your first option! It was not always easy, but all the time spent with Pete makes not only him, but my husband and I better people with a more satisfying life! Thanks ASWRV – Pete is awesome and was safe thanks to each of you!

Join us at Hikin' Buddies! Each Wednesday ASWRV dogs will be vying for your attention at the Adams Gulch Trailhead, hoping you can take them for a hike. The Shelter brings family friendly, adoptable dogs to Adams Gulch from 9:30-1:00 and encourages members of the community to take the dogs out from some exercise.
