Volunteers are always wanted and appreciated. Our volunteers are heroes to the many animals who pass through the Shelter each year. You can make a difference in many ways. You may wish to work directly with the animals, on community events, or in Shelter operations.
Please complete the following application to help us identify your interests.
For questions about our program or the application, call or email the Volunteer Coordinator at 208-622-7374/philgilbert@cox.net
Please indicate the areas of interest and skills you may have. Check all that apply.
An orientation class is required for some volunteer activities.
How often will you be able to volunteer?
ASWRV has a 'no kill' policy and tries to find homes for all the animals in our care. However, for medical or behavioral reasons, euthanasia may sometimes be the only and necessary option.
Liability Waiver and Disclosure
I fully understand, as part of my volunteer assignment and/or community service at the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley, that working with animals carries a risk of injury, and that it is possible that I will be bitten, scratched, and/or otherwise injured. I understand that the Shelter work puts me in direct contact with cleaning chemicals, which are caustic. My signature on this liability release attests to my intent to hold harmless and release from all liability the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley, its agents and assigns, from all acts, which are related to the normal performance of required and implied duties.
Once approved, you will be required to sign a Volunteer Release form.

Join us at Hikin' Buddies! Each Wednesday ASWRV dogs will be vying for your attention at the Adams Gulch Trailhead, hoping you can take them for a hike. The Shelter brings family friendly, adoptable dogs to Adams Gulch from 9:30-1:00 and encourages members of the community to take the dogs out from some exercise. For more information, please contact the ASWRV at 208-788-4351
