Community Spay/Neuter Clinics

The Animal Shelter is committed to reducing pet overpopulation through an active community spay/neuter program. The shelter offers weekly no cost spay/neuter clinics to pet owners in Blaine County throughout the year.  Animals as young as 8 weeks can participate in the clinics. The ASWRV endorses early spay / neuter practices, in accordance with the recommendations of the AVMA. Early spay and neuter is a safe and effective way to help reduce pet overpopulation.

On the day of surgery we ask that animals arrive between 8 and 9am. We ask that you not feed your pet breakfast unless previously specified. Most animals are discharged between 3 and 5 pm. You will receive a phone call once surgery is complete to update you on your pet as well as to set up a pick up time.

While there is no fee for the clinic, we do ask for a donation to help cover our costs. Below is a breakdown of what our costs are per animal:

Female Dog Spay: $65

Male Dog Neuter: $45

Female Cat Spay:$45

Male Cat Neuter: $25

Any portion of this cost that you can reimburse helps ensure that we can continue to provide this service for the residents of the Wood River Valley.

The ASWRV is also committed to assisting the community with our feral cat populations. The ASWRV will spay or neuter any feral cat at no charge.

If you would like to participate in our no cost Spay / Neuter Clinic, or would like more information, please contact the shelter at 788.4351 or email the shelter at nadia@animalshelterwrv.org.
