Batman & Robyn Home for the Holidays

15
Dec 2016

Batman and Robyn were two of many kittens to come through the Shelter this season. They absolutely loved each other and we hoped they would find their forever home together. The staff decided to move the kittens to the Barkin’ Basement to see if they would find their forever family while in the store’s Cat Adoption Center.

After just one day, the pair was spotted by a family looking to surprise their daughters for the holidays. Two playful kittens for two loving kids. It doesn’t get much better.

Happy Tails from Clyde & Schmidt

Happy pitbulls are our favorite kind of pitbulls! In honor of#PitbullAwarenessDay (Saturday), we’re sharing just a few of the many Happy Tails stories from the homes of adopted pitbulls. Enjoy!

“We adopted Clyde a few years ago because we absolutely loved everything about him. He was the sweetest, most loving, playful, outgoing, people-loving dog. We started bringing him to our store and people would ask, “Is he a pitbull?” We had never even considered the fact that we had just adopted a “scary” pitbull! All we knew is that he was the most awesome dog we had ever had in our lives. We started talking to other pittie owners and found that this was indicative of the breed. They are charmers. They are sweet, loyal, goofy and smart. They are easy to train. They love people. They love to cuddle. They have the absolute best smiles. They love to play and hike, but they are also very happy lazing out on the sofa for a movie marathon.

When Clyde decided he’d like a younger brother, of course we headed to the shelter and found Schmidt waiting for us. These two dogs have filled up our empty nest with their snuggles, their love and their kooky, colorful personalities.”

Happy pitbulls are our favorite kind of pitbulls! In honor of #PitbullAwarenessDay on October 22nd, we’re sharing just a few of the many Happy Tails stories from the homes of adopted pitbulls. Enjoy! “When we first met Haiku I felt a little anxious because of all of the media hype around pitbull type dogs. After a slow intro (and some help from the shelter staff) with Miffle (our bichon) we decided to take Haiku home. It has been such a joy having her! Miffle had always been very shy around people and other dogs but Haiku’s outgoing personality showed Miffle it was safe, and then Miffle was in heaven. Miffle followed Haiku everywhere! Which came in handy when we were out on the trail because Miffle did not have the natural recall that Haiku did. They ran around and investigated everything together; Miffle was like a little white shadow for big, black Haiku. A year later, we decided to foster another pitbull mix. She was an exuberant little girl that played very well with both Haiku and Miffle. She fit in so well that we “foster-failed” and adopted her! Now Lucie and Haiku cuddle up together every night for bed. Their favorite thing is to go for long walks in the canyons, but cozying up on the couch on rainy days is a close second! Since my husband is away a lot for work, these girls have been such a blessing. They have so much love to give! I have learned that a lot of pitbulls are really “love-a-bulls” that want to just play and cuddle all day long! I would encourage anyone to check out these great dogs!” -Kelsey Johndrow with Haiku & Lucie #adopt #pitbulls #dogsofinsta #dogsofinstagram #adoption #wrvhappytails #pitbullsofinsta @eggwhitetuesday

Happy pitbulls are our favorite kind of pitbulls! In honor of #PitbullAwarenessDay on October 22nd, we’re sharing just a few of the many Happy Tails stories from the homes of adopted pitbulls. Enjoy! “We fell in love with our first pitbull 12 years ago when we found him at the Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley. We had small kids at that time and when we brought him home the first thing he did was jump on the couch with our 9 year old daughter and promptly put his head in her lap. He fit in immediately! The Shelter called us a few months later asking if we wanted to see their newest pitbull resident. This pitbull was quite large and had a leg that was permanently turned out to the side. We adopted him on the spot. He, Otto, had the sweetest disposition and dispelled people’s fears about a pitbull as soon as they met him. Since that time we have continued to adopt pitbulls and each experience has been incredible. The two we have now, Bailey and Huck, continue to prove what our family has learned about pitbulls. They are full of love, joy, and are sensitive to people’s feelings. Of the two we have now, Huck is the most sensitive. He is so in tune with people’s emotions and is the first to offer some form of comfort. Forgetting his size, he tries to get in your lap or get his legs around your neck for a hug. It is this type of behavior that we have found to be a pitbull’s true nature!” -L’anne Gilman with Huck & Bailey #adopt #pitbulls #dogsofinsta #dogsofinstagram #adoption #wrvhappytails #pitbullsofinsta @lannegilman
